Drew here. I just wanted to give an update.
It seems like, no matter what we try, we can't keep a weekly podcast going. And it's entirely my fault. Six months ago, I took a desk job that requires 45 hours of my time per week; and then I've been spending my evenings chasing one of my real passions, voice-over production. Luckily, I've been getting some good VO gigs that are keeping me busy (and paid), but there are literally zero hours left in my day.
This is frustrating to me because, while voice over production is a passion, it's not really a creative outlet. I have to produce things exactly the way my clients want them if I want to be successful; there's just no getting around that.
Podcasting (and my more recent foray into video game streaming) has always been a great way for me to be creative and have fun, while still feeling like I'm ultimately accomplishing something worthwhile. Needless to say, I was upset that the podcast was falling by the wayside after starting my new job; so when Dan suggested changing the format of the show to a weekly "Daredevil" discussion, I loved the idea. We wouldn't have to struggle to develop topics for each show, because we would always be talking about the next "Daredevil" episode. Brilliant!
Unfortunately, "Daredevil" being a Netflix exclusive, the entire season was released at once; so nobody really cared about us watching and discussing an episode every week, because everyone besides us had long since binge-watched the whole thing. And with listenership at an all-time low, I quickly got discouraged and devoted what little spare time I had every week to my paid VO work instead.
Again, though, I've found myself without any creative juices flowing. Quite a conundrum.
I'm not exactly sure what the future holds for our podcast, other than the fact that I'm not ready to give up on it. Maybe we could make it a longer, monthly show. Maybe we could change the subject matter to make topics easier to come by. I honestly don't know yet...
What I do know is that an 8-to-5 job is definitely not for me. What I do know is that I want to be my own boss, have my own clients, and make my own schedule. And what I definitely know is that I need to make some changes in my life.
My ultimate goal is that those changes make me enough money to pay the bills, while leaving me enough time to actually enjoy my life. There's no reason I can't have my cake, and eat it too.
So stay tuned; 'cause one way or another, we're gonna figure this out.

Let's Watch "Daredevil" Together
Marvel / Netflix |
First and foremost, it's entirely my fault we've been away for so long. I decided we needed to streamline the show, but I wasn't exactly sure how. Then Dan came up with a great idea, and we're running with it!
We're gonna watch "Daredevil" on Netflix, then talk about it! We'll do one episode a week; and once we're through the season, we'll find something else (to watch, play, etc.). It's gonna be awesome.
Feel free to watch along with us, and post your thoughts in the comments.
Let's do this!
